Fantasy football projections, Week 15: Panthers-Giants featuring Cam Newton, Odell Beckham Jr. and Eli Manning

We break down the Week 15 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.

The Week 15 matchup between the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants features a juggernaut looking to go undefeated on the season. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton put together such a dominant performance against the Atlanta Falcons last week that he didn’t even need to finish the third quarter. Newton threw for 265 yards and three touchdown passes, leading his team to a 38-0 victory. It appears that nobody can stop the Panthers and the Giants have been really generous to quarterbacks in terms of the amount of fantasy points they give up. The only thing Newton needs now is to cement himself as one of the game’s best quarterbacks by finishing the year undefeated. There’s nothing wrong with having a quarterback on a Super Bowl contending team as your starter in the fantasy postseason.

Newton won’t have running back Jonathan Stewart in the lineup on Sunday after he injured his foot last week. That means tight end Greg Olsen becomes all the more important. Olsen caught just three passes for 52 yards last week, but at the same time, it should be noted that he was only targeted four times. Olsen could be much busier against the Giants, which means he should be good for better numbers.

New York Giants

Odell Beckham Jr. is simply awesome. He has now gone over 100 receiving yards in six straight games and he has eight touchdowns over that stretch, being shut out of the end zone only once. Even against a superior defense like the one Carolina brings to the table, it’s going to be tough to stop Beckham. Certainly watching him face off against Josh Norman is going to be a treat, although it’s not an ideal matchup for Beckham’s fantasy owners. Still, it seems like you just can’t miss with this guy. It’ll be interesting to see how Beckham performs against the best in Week 15.

If he struggles even slightly, it likely means that quarterback Eli Manning might have a subpar day. The good news is that Manning is coming off a huge game against the Miami Dolphins last week. He threw four touchdown passes and posted 337 passing yards. He may not get the Giants into the playoffs, but Manning has had a solid fantasy season. That said, Carolina is probably the toughest test Manning could possibly face at this moment in the NFL.
