Fantasy football projections, Week 15: Packers-Raiders featuring Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and Derek Carr

We break down the Week 15 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders.

The Week 15 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders features a stud quarterback of the present against a stud quarterback of the future. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has been held under 300 passing yards in four straight games, but he didn’t need to do that much to beat the Dallas Cowboys last week. Rodgers finished the contest with 218 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 22 passes. He will probably need to put up better numbers to top the Oakland Raiders, but the good news is the Raiders have been fairly leaky against opposing passing games. Rodgers should be able to find his favorite targets and the end zone on multiple occasions in Week 15.

One of those favorite targets is wide receiver Randall Cobb, although his fantasy owners should not necessarily expect him to score a touchdown. It’s been a rough year for Cobb, who signed a four-year deal with the club in the offseason and hasn’t looked to be worth the money. Perhaps the fact that teammate Jordy Nelson hasn’t been available made a bigger impact on the team’s offense than most experts anticipated. Regardless, Cobb is still a middle-of-the-pack option in standard formats.

Oakland Raiders

Fantasy owners of wide receiver Amari Cooper who were lucky enough to walk away from last week’s matchup with a victory probably need the young rookie receiver to do a lot better against the Packers than he did last week against the Denver Broncos. That’s because Cooper didn’t catch a single pass despite being targeted eight times in the game. He was up against a tough defense in Denver and should be able to produce more against the Packers. Fantasy owners can only hope so.

A large part of whether he does will fall on the arm of quarterback Derek Carr. Carr completed just 12 passes against the Broncos for 135 yards, but he did throw a pair of touchdown passes. Hopefully he can keep the ball moving down the field against Green Bay. He will also need to limit turnovers if the Oakland Raiders are to walk away from their second-to-last home game of the season with a victory.
