The Week 15 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the San Diego Chargers could very well be the last ever NFL home game in San Diego. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.
Fantasy football projections, Week 15: Dolphins-Chargers featuring Jarvis Landry, Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates
We break down the Week 15 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the San Diego Chargers.
Miami Dolphins
Jarvis Landry is a machine and it seems the Miami Dolphins entire passing game revolves around him. Last week Landry drew a season-high 18 targets against the New York Giants. He hauled in 11 passes for 99 yards in the game. He unfortunately had to be downgraded at Thursday’s practice but as long as he is in the lineup he will be a focal point of the passing game. It should be noted that Landry is up against a really good secondary unit this week. All factors considered, don’t be surprised if his Week 15 numbers take a step back.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has offered extremely limited fantasy production over the last two weeks. His totals read like this: 34 completions for 324 yards and two touchdowns combined over that stretch. Averaging 162 yards and a touchdown isn’t going to help any fantasy owners win games. Tannehill faces a solid secondary unit this weekend and it may be a good idea to look elsewhere for a quarterback. That’s especially true if you’re a fantasy owner with a championship caliber team built around your quarterback.
San Diego Chargers
2015 will be marked as a seasoned worth forgetting for the San Diego Chargers. The team’s wide receiving corps was wiped out by the injury bug and because of that, quarterback Philip Rivers has struggled to find any sort of consistency on offensive in the second half of the season. He was held out of the end zone against the Kansas City Chiefs last week and threw an interception. It was a disappointing effort considering he had just come off of a four-touchdown performance the week before. Rivers has nothing to lose against Miami this week and he’ll want to put together a big game for the home crowd. The Chargers may be moving to a different city next year, so Rivers will do what he can to ride them off into the sunset with a win.
One player that won’t necessarily be riding off into the sunset is tight end Antonio Gates. He’s hinted that he plans to return for a 14th season next year. He caught six passes in last week’s game for 76 yards. Gates is as good as it gets at the tight end position but in the last number of years he struggled with injuries. Hopefully he can keep it together for a few more games and provide fantasy owners with every last bit of value the rest of the way.
