Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been ruled out for Week 15's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Peyton Manning injury update: QB ruled out for Broncos, fantasy owners
The Broncos will once again turn to Brock Osweiler in Week 15. We break down the fantasy implications.
Manning has sat out every game since Week 10 due to a torn plantar fascia, although the veteran quarterback returned to practice for the first time since then in preparation for Sunday’s game. However, Manning was never expected to start if he was healthy enough to play, and additionally needed to be held out of Friday’s session due to soreness.
Fantasy impact: It is unclear if Manning’s absence on Friday could be considered a setback, but fantasy owners who have stock in the Broncos offense should hope it is not. Manning has averaged 52 more passing yards per game than Osweiler, and has nine touchdowns in as many starts opposed to Osweiler’s five passing touchdowns in six games.
For now, it should be expected that Manning remains sidelined as long as the Broncos stay afloat in the division with Osweiler under center. But as Week 14's disastrous loss to the Raiders indicates, that isn't a guarantee.
