Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will be shut down for the season, according to NFL Network’s Rand Getlin.
Marcus Mariota’s fantasy season ends with sprained MCL
The Titans have shut down their rookie quarterback for the year. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mariota suffered the injury early in Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots. He already missed two games earlier this year with a similar MCL injury, and with the Titans going nowhere at 3-11, it only makes sense to protect the No. 2 overall draft pick. Zach Mettenberger will start the Titans’ final two games.
Mariota ends a promising rookie year with 2,818 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, completing 62 percent of his passes and throwing for 7.6 yards per attempt.
Fantasy impact: Re-draft owners can finally pull the plug on Mariota, who was a quality streaming option at times but wasn’t consistent enough to be an every-week starter. He’s a solid hold in dynasty/keeper leagues and a candidate for a second-year leap forward, depending on what the Titans’ next coaching staff looks like.
Mettenberger has shown flashes of competence in his two-year career, but he’s not a recommended starter for fantasy championship week against the Houston Texans.
