Philip Rivers single-handedly carried his fantasy owners throughout the course of the first half of the season, fell off a cliff after the bye, but finally showed signs of reemergence on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 16: Philip Rivers
The Chargers signal caller is starting to show signs of life after a dismal second half of the season. We break down the fantasy implications.

It was a welcome game for fantasy owners who weathered the recent string of awful fantasy performances by Rivers, and they were rewarded with three touchdowns and 311 yards in Week 15. Rivers trailed only Tom Brady in fantasy points per game from Week 1 through Week 8, and his recent game was in line with that stretch of dominant performances, but without Keenan Allen in the huddle.
Fantasy impact: Rivers had one of his best fantasy outputs of the season against the Raiders in Week 7, but much has changed with the Chargers since then. The Raiders have surrendered the ninth-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and Rivers has the talent to capitalize on that despite his depleted cast.
Rivers remains a fringe QB1/QB2 for championship week, and deserves consideration in leagues of all formats. His upside remains, but fantasy owners have to be prepared for downside as well, given recent duds against capable defenses.
