New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (knee) has been ruled out for the team's Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Gronkowski did not participate in practice at all this week and never had a realistic shot at taking the field so soon.
Rob Gronkowski injury update: TE ruled out for Patriots, fantasy owners
The New England Patriots tight end has been ruled out for Week 13. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: Anyone who has ever heard of football knows that Gronkowski is the league's best fantasy tight end by a wide margin. His absence is a major blow for fantasy owners an at extremely inopportune time with many leagues set to begin the fantasy playoffs next week. With the very real possibility that Gronkowski will miss next week as well, Scott Chandler will hold down the fort until he returns. Chandler had a fairly productive four years with the Buffalo Bills before joining the Pats. With 15 touchdowns in that span and three this season, there's plenty to like about his chances. He was targeted a season-high 11 times last week. While he only hauled in less than half of them, it's safe to say that he'll be a significant part of the offense. He's on the TE1 radar even against the Eagles defense that allows the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
