After a shaky start to the preseason, Tennessee Titans rookie Marcus Mariota continues to trend upward, displaying efficiency and a penchant for making splash plays. Though he typically remains undrafted in re-draft leagues, fantasy owners have a chance to get in on his value at ground level.
Marcus Mariota flashes fantasy potential in preseason vs. St. Louis Rams
The second overall pick in the 2015 draft showed why the Tennessee Titans invested so highly in him, making plays with his arm and his legs on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mariota showed off his ability to make plays on the move on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, hitting tight end Craig Stevens for 35 yards while rolling right and throwing across his body. Mariota would have also logged a touchdown on the day if not for a dropped pass by Dexter McCluster. The rookie signal caller finished his afternoon completing 5 of 8 passes for 59 yards.
Fantasy Spin: Mariota is an obvious dynasty-league stash, while his redraft value is at a low point. That’s understandable due to the steep learning curve of rookie quarterbacks, as well as the depth of the quarterback position across the board.
Daring fantasy owners wouldn’t be ill-advised to give the dual-threat rookie a chance as a QB2 with upside, especially if the Titans coaching staff opts to deploy his running ability. Mariota could cash in for his fantasy owners, but likely in the case that they invest conservatively in him.
