Carlos Hyde once again received the bulk of the workload with the San Francisco 49ers' first-team offense on Sunday versus the Dallas Cowboys. As a result, it's fair for fantasy owners to contemplate selecting him a little higher in drafts.
Carlos Hyde continues getting bulk of first-team snaps, presents favorable fantasy floor
The stars could be aligned for the San Francisco 49ers’ sophomore running back this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Though Reggie Bush has been brought in to be a change-of-pace back, the veteran has been held out of preseason competition thus far, allowing Hyde to have a virtually uncontested role in game action this summer. Hyde has pounded the rock nine times for 45 yards this preseason, and remains ahead of Kendall Hunter, who coaches are moving along slowly after recovering from a torn ACL. Electrifying rookie Jarryd Hayne is also in the running back conversation, but remains raw in pass protection and operating in tight spaces.
Fantasy Spin: With these circumstances presenting themselves, Hyde is firmly cemented as the 49ers’ early-down back, and could surpass the value of his current fourth-round ADP. Still a budding talent with a punishing running style, owners who opt to invest in a wide receiver or tight end in the early rounds could do much worse than Hyde as a contingency plan in the third or fourth round. With goal-line carries in store for a back within a balanced offense, Hyde may not be the sexiest of picks in fantasy drafts, but remains firmly in the RB2 discussion with a decent floor.
