St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley took part in team drills on Tuesday after being cleared a day earlier. The coaching staff wasted no time mixing the rookie in with the starting offense, although he did sport a yellow cap on his helmet, indicating not to hit him.
Todd Gurley returns to team drills, presents massive fantasy upside once healthy
The Rams’ first-round pick participated in team drills for the first time on Tuesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

The rookie from Georgia tore his ACL on Nov. 15, and will continue to be brought along slowly, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. The Rams open their season on Sept. 13 against the Seattle Seahawks, which would place Gurley at the 10-month point for an injury whose recovery time can vary.
Fantasy Spin: Reading between the lines, it’s clear the Rams think highly of Gurley, who they did invest a first-round pick in, and hope to feature him heavily once he is fully recovered. When that day will arrive is still unknown, but participating in team drills just nine months after the injury is a positive sign that it could be sooner rather than later.
Fantasy owners tend to believe that as well, judging from Gurley’s fifth-round draft position. Should he make a full recovery, he could turn into an absolute bargain his preferred usage and his raw talent. Gurley remains a gamble, but one worth taking in the fifth round.
