Tennessee Titans running back David Cobb suffered a calf injury, according to beat reporter Jim Wyatt. As a result, the rookie did not make the trip to Kansas City for the team's third preseason game.
David Cobb suffers calf injury, fantasy value remains dormant
The Titans’ rookie running back will sit out the team’s dress rehearsal preseason game versus the Kansas City Chiefs. We break down the fantasy implications.

Details on the injury's severity aren't yet clear, but it comes as a blow to Cobb's chances of wresting the starting running back job away from Bishop Sankey, who will now be in line for a bigger workload for the team's dress rehearsal. Though Sankey was generally unimpressive as a rookie, he's coming off of an encouraging preseason outing where he gashed the Rams for 45 yards on six carries.
Fantasy Spin: This doesn’t take Cobb out of the running for starting duties entirely, however, owners who were banking on him becoming the Titans No. 1 will likely have to wait longer than anticipated if that were to become a reality. Cobb and Sankey both have an eighth-round average draft position, but Cobb’s will likely fall in wake of this news.
Though Sankey remains the favorite for every-down work, fantasy owners would be advised to err to caution due to his lackluster performance as a rookie. This is not an ideal backfield situation to invest in.
