The Buffalo Bills have named Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback to start the season. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported the decision on Monday.
Tyrod Taylor named Bills starting quarterback, offers boom or bust fantasy value
Tyrod Taylor is officially the Bills’ QB1. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

Taylor, a former backup for the Baltimore Ravens, has so far embraced his opportunities this preseason. During the team's third preseason game, Taylor completed 12 of 13 passes for 122 yards, adding one carry for 20 yards and a touchdown. After a disappointing 2014 season for E.J. Manuel and a new coaching staff, Taylor's number has now been called.
Fantasy impact: While Taylor’s ability to lead an NFL offense for the long term remains to be seen, here’s what we know: Taylor was relegated to backup for three years in the NFL. However, there was no way he was going to take the job from Joe Flacco. Secondly, he can’t be much worse than E.J. Manuel at this point. In fact, judging from his preseason performance so far, he’s at least a slight upgrade.
Taylor should only help offensive players like Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy. Perhaps his biggest asset for fantasy owners is his ability to read defenses and run the ball well if needed. He's an intriguing sleeper in the late rounds of your fantasy draft.
