With Washington appearing set on starting Kirk Cousins at quarterback, DeSean Jackson could be in line for more production than anticipated in 2014.
Fantasy football draft strategy: DeSean Jackson potential rises with Kirk Cousins starting
Though the negative press surrounding Washington’s quarterback controversy hasn’t benefited the team much this summer, DeSean Jackson emerges as one of the bright spots in wake of this news. We break down the fantasy implications.

Though Cousins has a knack for head-scratching interceptions, it’s become clear this summer that he is the quarterback on the roster who can move the ball most effectively from under center. This may have been evident from 2014, as well, especially if you were to ask DeSean Jackson, who posted 100-yard outings in three of Cousins six appearances.
Fantasy Spin: Jackson’s inherent nature as a deep threat will always make him a boom-or-bust player in fantasy leagues across the board. But Cousins starting has to be good news for Jackson’s owners, who now have a quarterback at the helm who gets the ball out quickly and isn’t afraid to take chances.
Currently, Jackson’s average draft position sits at the bottom of the sixth round, which would not be a terrible place to pull the trigger on a high-upside receiver of his caliber. Fantasy owners in PPR leagues would be wise to wait a little longer before drafting him, but Jackson remains a high-upside WR2 in standard formats.
