The Detroit Lions acquired tight end Tim Wright on Monday, but it will have little bearing on incumbent starter Eric Ebron, according to reports.
Fantasy football draft strategy: Eric Ebron’s stock unaffected by Tim Wright acquisition
The Detroit Lions made a notable acquisition on Monday, but it appears Eric Ebron’s playing time will not change as a result of it. We break down the fantasy implications.

Wright has bounced around between Tampa Bay and New England after a breakout rookie campaign, and now adds Detroit to his list of NFL destinations. However, despite Wright flashing pass-catching potential in the past, the Lions’ first-round pick from 2014 is not in any danger of losing snaps to a tight end who has been on the fringe of NFL rosters over his past two seasons.
Fantasy Spin: Though Ebron remains a high-upside tight end, he is currently going undrafted in standard formats. But because there is so much uncertainty surrounding the tight end position, fantasy owners cannot be faulted for taking a late-round flier on a player who has been healthy and has drawn positive reviews from camp all summer.
Ebron remains a hold in dynasty leagues, and still has TE1 potential that could be reached at any point in the coming seasons. Wright remains off the fantasy radar entirely.
