Fantasy football projections, Week 1: Giants-Cowboys featuring Odell Beckham Jr., Tony Romo and Dez Bryant
We break down the Week 1 matchup between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.
New York Giants
There is only one player on the Giants that has the potential to be the top wide receiver of the 2015 fantasy season and his name is Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ was arguably already that last year with only a training camp injury and a delayed debut putting a slight damper on an amazing season. This year he comes ready to play right out of the gate, and there’s no doubt Beckham Jr. will see lots of action against the Cowboys.
That action will come via the arm of Eli Manning. The Giants quarterback could potentially find himself in a shootout against the Cowboys on Sunday night. That's especially true considering cornerback Orlando Scandrick will not play for Dallas. Manning could be worth starting to open the season as the matchup dictates fantasy points will be easy to come by.
Dallas Cowboys
The situation on the ground in Dallas is uncertain going into Sunday night's game. Fortunately, it should be business as usual in the passing game with quarterback Tony Romo at the helm. Romo is often underestimated both in reality and in fantasy leagues. He's historically been a high-volume passer throughout his career and with running back DeMarco Murray now in Philadelphia, Romo will likely put up big numbers all year long. There's no reason that trend can't start on Sunday night.
Anything Romo does in the game will of course directly impact wide receiver Dez Bryant. Bryant had a career high 16 touchdown catches last season, and finished with over 1,300 receiving yards for the second time in his career. He's as much a must-start receiver as there is in the NFL today, and fantasy owners should be eager to watch him play against the Giants.
