Fantasy football projections, Week 1: Eagles-Falcons featuring Sam Bradford, DeMarco Murray and Julio Jones
We break down the Week 1 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons.
Philadelphia Eagles
Sam Bradford has decided not to enter into contract negotiations with the Eagles until the conclusion of the 2015 season. He's making a bold statement betting on himself considering he's suffered season-ending injuries on more than one occasion in his career. That said, this could be the year that Bradford proves he's not only not made of glass, but also that he really is a top-notch quarterback. He had a good preseason and has two quality young receivers to work with all year. Bradford could put up some big numbers against a Falcons team that typically lacks on the defensive side of the football.
Not only does Bradford have young receivers to work with, he also has access to DeMarco Murray in the backfield. Murray and Bradford were teammates in college and while former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy isn't exactly a pushover, Murray is coming off of a career year. He should be able to run all over the Falcons on Monday night and is a guaranteed starter in any fantasy lineup this week.
Atlanta Falcons
Bradford had a solid preseason, but so did the leader of the Falcons, quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan had a sub-par year by his standards in 2014, seemingly becoming prone to interceptions. Part of the reason for that may have been the absence of Roddy White, who luckily will start this season healthy. Ryan should be a solid starter in Week 1 as a match up against the Eagles could present the makings of a shootout.
A high-scoring affair would obviously benefit wide receiver Julio Jones. He has been a top receiver since entering the league, and though injuries have slowed him down at times, Jones did manage to play 15 games last year and rack up 104 receptions and a whopping 1,593 yards. Although Jones did not face the Eagles last season, his numbers speak for themselves. Start him if you have him on Monday night.
