It never really stopped for Washington in the preseason. There were on-field issues (quarterback distractions) and off-field ones (look, everything, I'm not going to link it here). The team had to be really excited for the coming season, just to have something else to talk about. Sunday, Washington plays a Miami Dolphins with high playoff aspirations to start their 2015 season.
Fantasy football advice, Week 1: Who to start/sit for Dolphins vs. Washington
One team spent the whole preseason in turmoil. The other is the Dolphins.
Both teams come into Sunday's game largely healthy from a fantasy perspective. Miami wide receiver DeVante Parker (foot) and Washington backup quarterback Robert Griffin III (concussion) were on the injury report, but both will certainly be active for the game.
Miami will travel to Washington for Sunday’s game, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy implications:
DOLPHINS
Start 'em: There's a lot to like about Ryan Tannehill entering the season, and he looks like a reasonable low-end QB1. ... Lamar Miller is the only real candidate for a big season at running back for Miami. He's a fine RB2. ... Break down the Miami wide receivers for Week 1, and the only one who makes sense as a good starter is Jarvis Landry. ... The primary concern with Jordan Cameron is his injury history; well, right now, he's healthy. ... The Dolphins' defense is an absolute must-start this week.
Sit 'em: While Landry looks like a fine fantasy play for Sunday, Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings and DeVante Parker are wait-and-see guys. ... I never like to use new kickers, and Andrew Franks is a new kicker.
WASHINGTON
Start 'em: The numbers for Alfred Morris have always looked better with Robert Griffin III at quarterback, but even after the change, he's a fine RB2.
Start 'em?: It's hard to be excited about any pass-catchers in that Washington offense; both wide receiver DeSean Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed are startable, but they aren't exciting.
Sit 'em: The fact that Washington considers Kirk Cousins a viable option says a lot about how far Robert Griffin III has fallen; Cousins isn't NFL-caliber. ... Matt Jones is a popular sleeper pick at running back, but as long as Morris is around and productive, Jones is just a backup. ... Pierre Garcon is going to have to re-prove himself before he's a good fantasy option. ... it's easy to see Washington struggle to produce points, which doesn't bode well for Kai Forbath's kicking. ... The Washington defense is bad.
