Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins turned in a highly respectable rookie campaign. The Bills moved up five spots in the 2014 NFL Draft to take the Clemson product with the fourth overall pick and Watkins rose to the challenge of the accompanying pressure to finish the year 18 yards shy of a 1,000-yard season with 65 receptions and six touchdowns. It was all the more impressive when one factors in the underwhelming talent he dealt with at quarterback in E.J. Manuel, Thad Lewis and Kyle Orton, none of whom played enough consecutive games to build much chemistry with anyone.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 1: Sammy Watkins
The Bills receiver is coming off a promising rookie campaign. What should owners expect in Week 1?
Fantasy Impact: The good news is that Watkins has a full year under his belt and is in line to see a healthy number of targets. The bad news is that the Bills couldn't do much to upgrade their quarterback situation. Tyrod Taylor will get the start this week but it's more than likely that Manuel or Matt Cassel could find themselves under center if Taylor struggles. When you factor in his matchup with Indianapolis Colts star corner back Vontae Davis, owners should expect moderate to low WR2 production this week.
