One would be hard-pressed to think of anyone who benefited more from the offseason moves made by the New Orleans Saints than wide receiver Brandin Cooks. After the Saints parted ways with Kenny Stills, Pierre Thomas and all-star tight end Jimmy Graham, the first-round pick suddenly finds himself as the team's top receiver. Tenth-year veteran Marques Colston will still get his fair share of targets, but there's no question that Cooks is an explosive play-maker and the team's best receiving option by a wide margin. His rookie campaign was cut six games short with injury but he still finished with a respectable 53 catches for 550 yards and four touchdowns, one of which came on the ground.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 1: Brandin Cooks
The Saints receiver is in line for a much bigger role. What should fantasy owners expect in Week 1?
Fantasy Impact: Owners who expect the sophomore to pick up right where he left off need to consider his matchup before getting too excited this week. The Saints take on the Arizona Cardinals, which means an afternoon of being shadowed by star cornerback Patrick Peterson. While Cooks will see plenty of targets from quarterback Drew Brees, owners should slightly downgrade their expectations for the week against the top-five corner.
