Wide receiver Charles Johnson was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise forgettable season for the Minnesota Vikings last year. After overtaking 2013 first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson on the depth chart, Johnson seized the opportunity and never let it go. His best game of the season came in Week 14 when he torched the New York Jets for 103 yards and a touchdown on four catches. Throughout the last half of the season, he was a hit-or-miss WR3 but there's good reason to believe he can take a step forward this year.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 1: Charles Johnson
The Vikings receiver flashed multiple times last year. What should fantasy owners expect in Week 1?
Fantasy Impact: Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to build on his promising rookie campaign. Johnson figures to be the prime beneficiary, also due to the noted chemistry that he and Bridgewater have developed throughout the offseason.
Free agent Mike Wallace will get his targets as a natural deep threat, but Johnson's game is much more complementary to Bridgewater's noted accuracy in his short and intermediate routes. Going up against a depleted San Francisco 49ers secondary, Johnson is a safe WR3 bet.
