Even in years where the two teams have opposite fortunes, the rivalry games between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are always a sight to behold. Their first of two games against one another in 2015 comes Sunday night, wrapping up the first full day of the NFL season.
Fantasy football advice, Week 1: Who to start/sit for Giants vs. Cowboys on Sunday night
The first Sunday of the NFL season wraps up with a heated NFC East rivalry game.
The Giants will be without wide receiver Victor Cruz for the game as he deals with a calf injury. The team otherwise appears healthy from a fantasy perspective. As for the Cowboys, wide receiver Dez Bryant (hamstring) and quarterback Tony Romo (back) both popped up on the injury report, but neither is any sort of worry for Sunday.
The Giants will travel to Dallas for Sunday’s game, slated for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy considerations:
GIANTS
Start 'em: Anyone down on Eli Manning right now is misguided, at least from where I'm sitting. He's an every-week must-start in 2015. ... Rashad Jennings is a good-when-healthy running back and he's healthy now. ... Everything that we all loved about Odell Beckham Jr. last year we still love.
Start 'em?: In a PPR league, you might be able to justify using Shane Vereen, but not really in standard leagues. ... With Victor Cruz out, Rueben Randle becomes a low-end flex option. ... Larry Donnell had one huge game last year, and was relevant in a few others. He's a high-end TE2. ... If the Giants' offense is as potent as I expect, Josh Brown could get a lot of kicking chances.
Sit 'em: You aren't getting anywhere near Andre Williams in fantasy. He was bad. ... As much as I expect the Giants' offense to improve, the Giants' defense is nowhere near quality. Stay away.
COWBOYS
Start 'em: Look up an inch or so. Notice how I called the Giants' defense bad? Yeah, Tony Romo should have a field day. ... Dez Bryant is so, so good. ... In his worst season as a starter last year, Jason Witten still had 64 catches, 703 yards and five scores. That's a really good season for some tight ends, and you can expect a rebound this year. ... Dan Bailey is still one of the game's best fantasy kickers.
Start 'em?: It would be really nice if the Cowboys had one quality running back fantasy owners knew they could count on. Instead, Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden are going to battle for ground. Randle looks like the one you want for now, as a low-end RB2 or high end flex. McFadden is more of a risky flex play, but that could easily flip.
Sit 'em: Randle and McFadden are the fantasy-relevant running backs on the Cowboys' roster right now; Christine Michael and Lance Dunbar are stay-aways until we see some more. ... There's no way to reliably use Terrance Williams in fantasy. ... I expect a decent Cowboys' defense this year, but there will be some growing pains, and this is a strong offense they are facing.

Start in every league: Eli Manning, Rashad Jennings, Odell Beckham Jr., Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Dan Bailey
Start if you’re desperate: Shane Vereen, Rueben Randle, Larry Donnell, Josh Brown, Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden
