Washington head coach Jay Gruden has confirmed that wide receiver DeSean Jackson pulled his hamstring and will be out for 3-4 weeks. Gruden hopes that Jackson can come back sooner, but added “you never know with a hamstring.”
DeSean Jackson to miss 3-4 weeks; Pierre Garcon, Jordan Reed should see fantasy boost
DeSean Jackson could be out until mid-October with a pulled hamstring. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jackson was injured early in Washington’s Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He pulled up lame on his only target of the day and was visibly upset while team doctors tended to him. Jackson was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed picked up the slack in Jackson’s absence, combining for 13 catches on 19 targets for 137 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy impact: The good news is that Jackson doesn’t have a history of hamstring injuries, so he could be back on schedule. The bad news is that hamstring injuries can linger and easily be aggravated, so fantasy owners will have to make a contingency plan. Reed and Garcon should both see increased targets, making them decent fantasy players for the next month.
Reed can be considered a WR3 for next week’s matchup with the St. Louis Rams. Reed has TE1 upside if he can stay healthy -- the tight end has his own long injury history. Andre Roberts will be the default No. 2 receiver opposite Garcon, but he’s not a real option in 12-14 team leagues. Washington figures to double down on the running game with its best playmaker sidelined.
