Fantasy football projections, Week 2: Titans-Browns featuring Marcus Mariota, Bishop Sankey and Isaiah Crowell

We break down the Week 2 matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns.

The Week 2 matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns features one team surprising people while another one definitely isn't. We've got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

Tennessee Titans

And so it begins. The race to the waiver wire for quarterback Marcus Mariota is on. Mariota completed 13 passes for just 209 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, but the reason to take him off the wire is that four of those completions went for touchdowns. The Titans were so far ahead of the Bucs at one point that Mariota was yanked from the game. While the Browns have always been known for defense, Mariota should still be able to put up numbers. That's what his new fantasy owners will be hoping, of course. Mariota has obviously made it clear he has some upside, and he's worth a start in deeper leagues.

Another Titan making waves on the wire this week is running back Bishop Sankey. Sankey amassed 86 yards on 14 touches last week and managed to find the end zone twice. If his performance is a sign of things to come, he should definitely be in starting lineups on Sunday. His yards per carry average was horrible last year, but it looks like things might be changing with Mariota under center.

Cleveland Browns

Running back Isaiah Crowell will no doubt have something to prove on Sunday against the Titans. That's because he will be up against former teammate Terrance West, and also because he didn't play well in Week 1, running for just 20 yards on 12 attempts against the New York Jets. That's simply not going to cut it for fantasy owners. He'll need to be better. The Titans look strong defensively, however, so this may not be Crowell's week. Fantasy owners should start him with caution.

To make matters worse for Crowell and company, it's still unknown whether Josh McCown will start on Sunday thanks to a concussion that took him out last week. That means the only known commodity in Cleveland's offense is wide receiver Travis Benjamin. Benjamin was only targeted three times last week, but he caught every single ball for 89 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy owners who gamble on starting him can only hope he sees more targets in Week 2.
