Many fantasy football fans were disappointed to hear the news that Dez Bryant would miss multiple weeks with a foot injury, and another surely disappointed person is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 2: Tony Romo
The Cowboys signal caller will have to go a few weeks without his No. 1 receiver. We break down the fantasy implications.
Bryant provided an absolute boon to the Cowboys offense in 2014, logging 1,320 yards and a career-high 16 touchdowns. That’s a lot of production that will need to be made up for in the coming weeks, and Romo having to replicate that won’t come easy.
Fantasy Spin: Though the Philadelphia Eagles defense had fits with Julio Jones in Week 1, Dallas no longer has a similar threat to pose out wide. Romo will have to look to Terrance Williams, Jason Witten, Cole Beasley and Lance Dunbar to pick up the slack in the receiving game, and none will make defenses shudder the way Bryant does.
Romo’s subsequent fantasy value undoubtedly takes a hit despite his favorable matchup, as it wouldn’t be surprising if the Cowboys opt to go even more run heavy behind their elite offensive line. Romo is a fringe QB1/QB2 without Bryant in the lineup, and his owners would be advised to have a backup plan in place for these few rough weeks.
