Fantasy start/sit advice, Week 2: Cam Newton struggling to start year
Cam Newton really looked bad in Week 1. Can his fantasy owners count on him this week?
Quarterback Cam Newton managed just 175 passing yards on his 31 attempts, which is good for an ugly 5.65 yards per attempt against a sub-par defense. Obviously the Panthers' lack of any true No. 1 or even No. 2 on their roster makes it awfully tough on Cam to get the ball to his guys. Teams are going to double tight end Greg Olsen a lot.
This week, they get a bad matchup against the Houston Texans. Newton was very busy in the running game with 14 carries for just 35 yards. He was only hit twice in the backfield as a passer due to the Jags having a sub-par rush. Obviously, that’s not going to be the case against J.J. Watt and Co.
Fantasy impact: Newton just can’t be started right now. He has too much to overcome and is more of a QB18-20.
