Sammy Watkins had a great rookie season. In 2014, the Buffalo Bills wide receiver caught 65 passes for 982 yards and six touchdowns. Watkins accomplished a lot by any standards. Heading into his sophomore season, it's natural to expect improved numbers. Expectations were shattered in Week 1, however, as Watkins was held without a single catch against the Indianapolis Colts. Whether it was the fact that Watkins was facing shutdown corner Vontae Davis, working with a new quarterback in Tyrod Taylor, the victim of a new offensive coordinator, or a little bit of all of these factors -- Watkins was a disappointment.
Sammy Watkins rumored for ‘huge’ role in Week 2, fantasy owners should remain cautious
Sammy Watkins is expected to bounce back from his disappointing Week 1 performance. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Marie Russini, Watkins’ empty stat line won’t last long. Russini took to Twitter to suggest that Watkins will be a “huge part” of the Bills’ offensive game plan in Week 2.
Fantasy impact: It's difficult to avoid a reactive approach to fantasy football. If a player posts a goose egg on the box score to start the season, it's enough for most fantasy owners to completely avoid that player the following week. Watkins wasn't an elite fantasy receiver to begin with, so fantasy owners likely have alternatives in place. Still, Russini's cryptic positivity warrants some optimism. The New England Patriots don't have a cornerback as stifling as Davis, and the Bills will need Watkins if they're hoping to take a stand offensively against New England.
Watkins owners should head into Week 2 with caution, but there’s no reason to bench Watkins if you’re just blinded with frustration. Approach Watkins as a WR3 option, and allow Russini’s words to bolster some hope for upside.
