Victor Cruz was ruled inactive for Week 2. The New York Giants wide receiver is expected to be out at least another week as he recovers from a calf injury suffered during the preseason. It remains to be seen if Cruz can be any sort of contributor for the Giants offense after suffering a patellar tendon injury in 2014 -- an injury which typically leads to many other ailments, even after recovery. It has been a disappointing year for a wide receiver that holds the franchise's receiving yards record.
Victor Cruz injury update: Giants WR is inactive, Rueben Randle fantasy owners wait for production
Victor Cruz won’t play Week 2. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

During Cruz's absence in 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. broke out with 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns through just 12 games in his rookie season. No other Giants receiver has been able to capitalize on the targets left behind by Cruz, including fourth-year receiver Rueben Randle.
Fantasy impact: Cruz may very well be a lost cause for fantasy purposes. He’s worth monitoring during his return, but there isn’t enough optimism to warrant a stash on benches outside of deeper leagues. Cruz’s injury is a disappointment, particularly because there hasn’t been another receiver that can truly fill the role he left behind. Randle was a second-round investment for the Giants in 2012. In fantasy football, Randle has yet to prove he can be more than low-end WR3 streamer despite his generous snap count in most weeks.
