Fantasy football projections, Week 3: Bills-Dolphins featuring LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins and Jarvis Landry
We break down the Week 3 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins.
Buffalo Bills
Coach Rex Ryan was super confident going into last week's game against the New England Patriots, but the Patriots came into Ralph Wilson Stadium and promptly put up 40 points. It turned out to be good news for fantasy owners of Bills players as the team played catch up all afternoon. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins got himself on the scoreboard for the first time this season. He caught six passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Doing the same will be tougher against the Dolphins, but Watkins is a talented player and still the team's best offensive option despite all the upgrades the club made in the offseason. Watkins will be aided in the team's game plan by running back LeSean McCoy.
McCoy put together 126 total yards on 18 touches against the Patriots, He had a goal line touchdown snatched away by teammate Karlos Williams, too. He'll be in tough against the Dolphins, who have been fairly good against the run this year, but fantasy owners have to start him because he will see a regular work load anyway.
Miami Dolphins
Wide receiver Jarvis Landry saw double-digit targets for the second week in a row in last week's surprising loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In total he's been targeted 24 times in just two games, catching 16 passes for 163 yards combined. Those are pretty good numbers. Even though Landry has yet to find the end zone, it's only a matter of time before he does. He'll be an elite option in PPR leagues going forward and this week is no exception.
A good day for Landry will also equate to a solid performance from quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Not only did Tannehill look impressive in trying to lead the Dolphins to a comeback victory last week -- throwing for 359 yards and two touchdowns -- he’s up against a Buffalo Bills defense that has given up the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. Those facts and figures favor starting Tannehill in Week 3. Fantasy owners who believe numbers don’t lie should be able to cash in with Tannehill under center.
