Fantasy football projections, Week 3: Steelers-Rams featuring Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and Nick Foles
We break down the Week 3 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the St. Louis Rams.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Two weeks from now the fantasy community could be buzzing about the best offense in the NFL residing in Pittsburgh once Martavis Bryant serves his suspension. For now, owners will be talking about the return of running back Le'Veon Bell. He'll be starting in place of DeAngelo Williams, who did an admirable job filling in while Bell served a two-game suspension of his own. Bell is a top-notch rusher and pass catcher, making him an absolute stud in PPR leagues. The Rams boast a tough defense, but it doesn't matter because Bell is an automatic must start on any given Sunday and Week 3 is no exception.
Bell's return will surely lend a helping hand to wide receiver Antonio Brown... Not that Brown needs it. He's the top fantasy football player of the season so far, particularly in PPR leagues. Brown has a whopping 18 catches for 328 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion on top. Wow! He is the definition of an elite receiver and no matter who is covering him on Sunday, Brown should continue to put up outstanding numbers. Only the Atlanta Falcons' Julio Jones is even in the same stratosphere as No. 84 in black and yellow at the moment.
St. Louis Rams
After an impressive Rams debut, quarterback Nick Foles was pretty quiet in Washington last week. He completed just 17 passes on 32 attempts for 150 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort. The good news for Foles' owners is that Pittsburgh goes into Week 3 having given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than any other team in the NFL. For that reason, Foles may indeed be worth starting this week.
A big day for Foles likely means at least a fighting chance at production for wide receiver Kenny Britt. Britt has just four catches on seven targets for 81 yards and a touchdown this season, but the Steelers give up points to the passing game. The Rams should be playing from behind on Sunday, which could mean a few long bombs falling into Britt’s hands and a surprising fantasy stat line. He’s worth taking a chance on in deeper leagues.
