Fantasy football projections, Week 3: Jaguars-Patriots featuring Allen Robinson, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski
We break down the Week 3 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.
Jacksonville Jaguars
This just in ... Allen Robinson is about to be a fantasy stud. At least that's what his fantasy owners are hoping since his explosion last week. Robinson was targeted 12 times, caught six passes and amassed 155 receiving yards to go with two scores in the team's loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Jaguars will likely be playing from behind against a potent Patriots offense, which means that Robinson should post huge numbers in Week 3.
Robinson's emergence may lead fantasy owners to take a flyer on quarterback Blake Bortles. Bortles had one of the best games of his young career last week from a fantasy standpoint. He threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He'll be in tough going toe-to-toe with Tom Brady in Week 3, but he, like Robinson, could post big stats on Sunday.
New England Patriots
It’s obvious that Tom Brady is indeed playing with a chip on his shoulder thanks to his trials and tribulations with the Deflategate drama this past offseason. Fantasy owners who gambled on drafting him when he had a suspension hanging over his head are now reaping the benefits. Brady has 754 passing yards and seven touchdown passes through two weeks this season. He may not average over 375 yards a game all year long, but no quarterback in the league is outplaying him at the moment.
With how well Brady is playing, virtually any Patriots receiver would be a good play against the Jaguars, but the team's premier pass catcher will always be tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk was at it again last week against the Buffalo Bills catching seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. He's an automatic starter this week. Seven catches and a score seems to be the norm for the NFL's most prolific tight end.
