Fantasy football projections, Week 3: Bengals-Ravens featuring A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert and Crockett Gilmore
We break down the Week 3 matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals appear to be firing on all cylinders to start the 2015 season. If that trend is to continue, wide receiver A.J. Green will have to be involved. He got in on the Bengals’ early-season party last week, catching three passes for 45 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Only three teams have given up more fantasy points to wide receivers than the Ravens this year, so Green could be in for a big day in Week 3.
So could his teammate Tyler Eifert. Eifert, an emerging fantasy stud at the tight end position. His three touchdowns on the season bring his career total to five. That’s a good sign for fantasy owners who drafted him based on his upside. It looks like he’s realizing it that’s for sure. The Ravens have played tight ends pretty well so far this season, so if it Eifert manages to do well this week, it would solidify the confidence of his fantasy owners.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens found themselves in an shootout against the Oakland Raiders last week. Although the team took a loss in a close one, owners of tight end Crockett Gilmore felt like winners at the conclusion of the contest. That’s because Gilmore finished the game with five catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns. He is now one of the hottest players available on the waiver wire. Given that Ravens receivers have struggled this year, it’ll be interesting to see if Gilmore can keep the momentum going against the Bengals.
If he does, it may give running back Justin Forsett a fighting chance of finding some lanes against the Bengals. He’s been just okay so far this season and was unable to get in a rhythm against the Raiders. Part of the reason for that was that the Ravens spent most of the afternoon playing catch-up. Only one team has given up more fantasy points to running backs than the Bengals this season, so Forsett could be one of the league’s top performers when Sunday’s games are complete.
