We break down the Week 3 matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks.
Chicago Bears
Football fans in Chicago aren't exactly having the time of their lives right now. That's because the Bears find themselves winless going into Seattle on Sunday. The prospect of facing the reigning NFC champions has to make the team feel like all hope is lost. That's mostly true, because backup Jimmy Clausen will be starting for the Bears on Sunday with Jay Cutler is out at least two weeks.
Clausen last got to start before Christmas last year against the Detroit Lions and actually fared OK, completing 59% of his passes. Doing that against Seattle is going to be tough. Fantasy owners who are forced to start Clausen may be in some trouble this week.
Having him under center means that running back Matt Forte will be a pretty busy guy. Forte was pretty much a non-factor last week because Arizona built up a huge lead. His limited action in that game may work to Forte's advantage this week, as he should see upwards of 20 touches against the Seahawks. He's probably the only Bears player worth starting this time around.
Seattle Seahawks
People have got to be surprised that the Seahawks are still looking for their first win of the season after making it to the Super Bowl last year. The good news is it's obvious that quarterback Russell Wilson found his game in Green Bay last week. Playing from behind, he was forced to get creative and scramble out of the pocket, allowing the Seahawks to really get things going in the second half. It turned out to be too little too late, but Seattle shouldn't have a problem thumping Chicago on Sunday.
Hopefully a blowout performance by the team will bode well for tight end Jimmy Graham. An inside source familiar with the Seahawks stated earlier in the week that Graham hates his new role in Seattle. It doesn’t take an inside source to know that he probably wants to be more involved in the offense rather than spending his time blocking.
So far this season Graham has just seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. Last week was particularly alarming, He was only targeted twice in a game where the Seahawks needed to come from behind and throw the ball down the field. Fantasy owners can only hope Graham is more involved against the Bears in Week 3.
