Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been ruled out of action on Sunday due to a hamstring injury, the team announced Friday.
Jay Cutler ruled out for Sunday’s game, remains on fantasy benches
The Bears will be shorthanded when they head to Seattle for Week 3. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jimmy Clausen will start in Cutler's place, a role he was reacquainted with in Week 2 when Cutler hurt himself attempting to make a tackle following an interception. Cutler is expected to miss two weeks with his injury, and the veteran quarterback missed practice all week as a result of it.
Fantasy Spin: Between battling health issues and no longer having Marc Trestman dialing up his plays, Cutler's fantasy value has dwindled to the point where it's difficult to justify his roster spot in standard formatted leagues. With Brandon Marshall now playing out of town and with Alshon Jeffery also dealing with a hamstring injury, Cutler's upside is severely capped.
When healthy, Cutler remains nothing more than a low-end QB2 across the fantasy spectrum, and Clausen deserves no fantasy consideration at all when the Bears head to Seattle to face the Seahawks.
