Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) has been ruled out for the team's Week 3 matchup against the Houston Texans. The sophomore tight end did not participate in practice at all this week and is tentatively expected to return in 4-6 weeks. Brandon Myers is the next man after the team traded Tim Wright to the Detroit Lions.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins injury update: TE out, won’t play for fantasy owners
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end has been ruled out for Week 2. We break down the fantasy implications.
Fantasy impact: The downgrade in talent from ASJ to Myers is considerable. Myers hasn't caught a pass yet this year and only hauled in 22 receptions for 190 yards last year. He hasn't caught a touchdown since 2013. Look for quarterback Jameis Winston to heavily target receivers VIncent Jackson and Mike Evans. Running backs Doug Martin and Charles Sims could even get more involved before the run blocking deficient Myers becomes a part of the game. He's not a recommended play and owners in need of a starting tight end could do better on the waiver wire.
