Atlanta Falcons rookie Tevin Coleman ripped off big chunks of yardage during the team's preseason finale versus the Baltimore Ravens, but despite that, it remains unclear if he will challenge for the starting job, according to beat reporter Vaughn McClure.
‘Unclear’ if Tevin Coleman will start for Falcons, remains mid-round pick in fantasy leagues
The Falcons got a long-awaited encouraging performance from one of their running backs during their preseason finale. We break down the fantasy implications.

Coleman ended the night with 56 yards on eight carries, sparking a run game that had entered the contest averaging 1.9 yards per attempt. The Indiana rookie ripped off gains of 26 and 15 yards, but was also stuffed at the line of scrimmage routinely. Devonta Freeman was inactive, and has been recovering from a hamstring injury.
Fantasy Spin: The Falcons backfield situation is about as clear as muddy water, which has many fantasy owners avoiding this backfield until the late rounds of drafts.
It is unclear how much time Freeman will miss, and though that paves the way for Coleman, it doesn’t’ necessarily mean that he will be in line for a massive workload. Though Coleman has exciting playmaking ability, it’s still hard to determine how much of a role he has carved out for himself.
Coleman remains a running back who is certain to be involved in Atlanta’s backfield rotation, but the extent is too much of an unknown for fantasy owners to invest anything more than a mid-round pick in him.
