When the San Diego Chargers acquired Stevie Johnson in 2015's offseason, not many fantasy owners turned their heads. But as the regular season nears, they are beginning to.
Stevie Johnson back to playmaking form, per report, worth a late fantasy pick
After a down year with the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Stevie Johnson appears revitalized with his latest team. We break down the fantasy implications.

According to beat reporter Eric Williams, Johnson has regained the form that he had with the Buffalo Bills, where he posted three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2010-2012. With Antonio Gates sidelined for the season's first four games, Johnson could do some real damage out of the slot.
Fantasy Spin: It’s an encouraging report, but it’s not one that should have fantasy owners clamoring to draft the 29-year-old wideout in the middle rounds. Assuming the wheels haven’t fallen off Gates upon his return, he will continue to be a red zone presence that would likely be enough to cut into Johnson’s overall production.
With Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead remaining integral parts of the receiving game, Johnson being the tertiary or quaternary option amid the Chargers offense doesn't present much hope for his fantasy prospects going forward. Johnson is worth taking a shot on in the late rounds of drafts, but that's all.
