Speaking on Friday, Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan remained noncommittal on running back LeSean McCoy's availability for Week 1.
Rex Ryan ‘hoping’ LeSean McCoy plays Week 1, fantasy value waning
LeSean McCoy’s hamstring injury continues to linger as opening weekend draws near. We break down the fantasy implications.

“I’m hoping he’ll be available to us,” Ryan said, per beat writer Mike Rodak. Ryan also added that he remains cautiously optimistic McCoy will be available for the regular season opener. McCoy has missed significant time this summer due to a hamstring injury, and his status remains up in the air for Week 1.
Fantasy Spin: It is worth mentioning that if there's any ambiguity regarding a star player's availability, the advantage shifts to the side of the team he's on. It will undoubtedly force the Indianapolis Colts -- the Bills' Week 1 opponent -- to prepare for McCoy in the event he is unable to play. It's a common tactic used by teams to spread the opponent's resources as thin as possible in preparation for the game.
Fantasy owners, however, aren't able to cash in on this benefit. Instead, they are left with an uncertain option at running back that will cost a high draft pick. He remains a RB1 in leagues of all formats, but there's certainly risk involved here. McCoy owners would be wise to grab Karlos Williams as insurance.
