Houston Texans running back Arian Foster continues to make steady progress in his rehab from groin surgery. Head coach Bill O’Brien, as usual, didn’t provide many details on Monday, saying only that Foster is “doing well.” He still doesn’t have a solid timetable for a return.
Arian Foster making progress but still won’t be an early fantasy factor
Arian Foster’s rehab might be ahead of schedule, but he still doesn’t have a clear timetable to return. We break down the fantasy implications.

Foster went under the knife on Aug. 7 to repair a torn groin muscle. The initial fear was that he would miss up to three months, but Foster’s recent prognosis has been much more optimistic, with reports saying that he could be back anywhere from late September to early October.
Fantasy impact: We still don’t know when exactly Foster will be back, but for the time being it sounds like he’s a lock to miss the first 2-3 games of the regular season. He’s a good bench stash in every league at the moment, although Foster’s injury history and slow recovery times could be an issue again this season, so fantasy owners shouldn’t bank their championship hopes on him alone.
Alfred Blue is slated to start Sunday’s Week 1 opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. Blue should get plenty of volume with Brian Hoyer at quarterback, but he’s a middling flex play against the Chiefs’ front four. Blue averaged just 3.1 yards on 169 carries last season.
