Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton returned to practice Wednesday after being under the NFL’s concussion protocol the previous week, according to ESPN’s David Newton. Newton entered the NFL’s concussion protocol in Week 4 after taking a hit in the fourth quarter of the Panther’s loss to division rival Atlanta.
Cam Newton returns to practice for fantasy owners
The Carolina Panthers’ starting quarterback returns to practice after being in the NFL’s concussion protocol last week. We break down the fantasy impact.

Newton was home during Carolina’s Monday night division loss to Tampa Bay. This was only the third time the 2015 MVP has been sidelined in his career.
Newton is expected to suit up for Carolina Sunday, though there is a possibility he could not play if concussion symptoms return.
Fantasy Impact: There is no doubt the Panthers need Newton on the field. Derek Anderson played OK against Tampa Bay Monday Night but, on two obvious quarterback sneak plays the Panthers were stuck without Newton’s versatility.
Newton has a history of torching New Orleans, which is great for his owners’ fantasy owners. Unfortunately, he is not completely out of the woods yet as any new concussion symptoms will sideline the three-time Pro Bowler again Sunday. Anderson will start again should that happen.
