Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Colts-Jaguars featuring Andrew Luck, Blake Bortles, Allen Robinson, more

The Week 4 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars features two teams with a lot of potential, but struggling to compete in the AFC South. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

In a must-win game last week, the Colts managed to squeeze by the San Diego Chargers. Quarterback Andrew Luck did his part, throwing for 331 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception in the contest. Since being arguably the top fantasy quarterback in the NFL two years ago, it appears Luck may not get back to the No. 1 spot anytime soon, despite being one of the highest-paid players in the league.

Money aside, Week 4’s game against the Jaguars presents a good opportunity for Luck to put together a big week. The Jaguars have had trouble containing fantasy quarterbacks this year. The divisional matchup could turn out to be a shootout and that will benefit Luck’s owners.

When Indianapolis chooses to run the ball, Frank Gore will carry the load. Gore looked to be on his way to some huge numbers in Week 3 after putting together 70 rushing yards fairly early in the game. He finished with 21 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown, which is mildly disappointing considering the circumstances. The Colts would be smart to go to him more often against Jacksonville should he start the game off in the same way. In deeper leagues he’s got to be in the lineup.

Although his receiving yardage totals have been subpar to start the season, Allen Robinson finally found his first two touchdowns of the year in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. He is too good to be held down for too long, and a juicy matchup against the Colts should allow Robinson to continue building on his momentum.

Then again, Indianapolis does rank near the top of the NFL at limiting fantasy points at the wide receiver position. It’s something to be cognizant of. Regardless, the Jaguars’ best pass catcher is due for a 100-yard game. Teammate and quarterback Blake Bortles needs to be better to help his No. 1 target along.

Bortles has two 300-yard passing games and two multi-touchdown games under his belt this season. Unfortunately, he has also thrown six interceptions on the year, including five in the last two games. That’s simply not good enough. The interceptions are killing drives.

Bortles will need to protect the football against Indianapolis in order to give his team more opportunities in the red zone, and thus more opportunities for Robinson and Allen Hurns. Fantasy owners who drafted Bortles had high hopes for capitalizing on his coming-out party. He’s a little late to the dance, but Bortles can salvage his value with a big game against the Colts.
