Tight ends are having a rough 2016 season in the NFL. Many of the top performers from a season ago are dealing with a range of injuries from ankle and knee problems to concussions, and defenses are really shutting the position down.
Fantasy football trade advice, Week 7: Buy-low, sell-high tight end trade candidates
What tight ends have the best and worst trade values heading into Week 7 of the 2016 NFL season?

Though tight ends may be on a decline, there are still some gems being overlooked. There are also some tight ends worth dealing now, while they are still valuable. Here are the tight ends you look to add and drop this week.
Buy Low
Hunter Henry, San Diego Chargers
Henry is almost a no-brainer TE1 at this point, yet his is still available in most leagues. The rookie TE has touchdowns in three straight games, has over 300 receiving yards already this season and led the team in targets Week 6. Henry is growing into quarterback Philip Rivers’ top target even when veteran TE Antonio Gates is playing.
It is surprising more people have not scooped up Henry, so now is the time. He has a fantastic matchup against Atlanta in Week 7.

Vernon Davis, Washington
Davis got the start in Week 6 for Jordan Reed, who is currently under the NFL’s concussion protocol. The 11-year veteran caught two passes for 50 yards and a touchdown against a stingy Philadelphia defense.
As Reed recovers, Davis has a couple upside matchups before Washington’s bye week. Detroit has given up a touchdown to a tight end in every game except one (Philadelphia) this season and the Bengals gave up over 250 yards to opposing tight ends over the last couple weeks. Add his experience, Davis is a good streaming option for this midseason bye week period.

Sell High
Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles
Ertz has struggled to get it going since returning from a rib injury that sidelined him for three straight weeks. He had a great matchup on paper against the Lions in Week 5, but he only caught three passes for 37 yards. He followed that performance up with one catch for 22 yards against Washington in Week 6.
Ertz’s low output is not completely his fault, rookie quarterback Carson Wentz spreads the ball around, a lot. Still, Ertz is not much of a touchdown scorer and he clearly is not a go-to receiver anymore either. Best to try and package him now before he loses all his value.

Julius Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars
Thomas is not doing much of anything this season. He has only 13 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown in four games this season. The six-year TE has also been dealing with an elbow issue that has already sidelined him at least one game.
As Thomas returns from injury, owners should see what they can get for him before it is too late. The TE is about to face some tough defenses in the upcoming weeks.
