Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said that starting quarterback Carson Palmer is day-to-day with a concussion, according to Cardinals beat writer Darren Urban. Arians also added he was optimistic that Palmer could play in the Cardinals Week 5 division matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
The three-time Pro Bowl QB entered the NFL’s concussion protocol Sunday after taking a hard hit on a sack in the fourth quarter of Arizona’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He would leave the game and not return. The Cardinals should have an update on Palmer’s status Wednesday. Coach Arians also mentioned Palmer does not have to practice in the short week in order to play Thursday night.
Fantasy Impact: Palmer puts his fantasy owners in a tough position having a concussion on a short week. The Cardinals may be optimistic for Palmer to play, but he has to clear the concussion protocol first. Owners will likely not know Palmer’s status until Wednesday for Thursday night. Should he play, he has a favorable matchup against San Francisco. If Palmer is out, the Cardinals will start Drew Stanton.
