The 10th week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via CBS Sports) and news arrives.
Waiver wire quarterback rankings, Week 11
1. Trevor Siemian, Denver Broncos (49 percent owned)
A new month has made a new man of Siemian. In October, the Broncos rookie played four games and threw a combined three touchdowns, causing his ownership to plummet. But in two games in November, Siemian has four touchdowns, including two in Sunday’s victory over the Saints. He has now thrown for 817 yards in his past three games and appears headed for a strong finish to 2016.
2. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins (38 percent owned)
Don’t look now, but the Dolphins have won four games in a row, and the error-free play of Tannehill is a big part of the equation. Beyond not throwing any interceptions over those four games, Tannehill struck for big plays in a thrilling win over the Chargers, throwing for a pair of touchdowns. His schedule is hardly formidable the rest of the way and the team is playing with confidence. He can certainly help in a pinch.
3. Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings (30 percent owned)
On the other end, the Vikings are in a free fall, having lost their fourth in a row on Sunday. But Bradford has not been the problem, throwing for over 300 yards. With the running game crippled, Bradford had thrown 40 passes in each of the past two games. That kind of volume is going to lead to good stats – he threw for two touchdowns on Sunday – and that makes him a viable spot starter or backup.
4. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers (24 percent owned)
He’s not going to win any popularity contests, but he might be able to win you some games. Kaepernick had 25 CBS points for the second week in a row and has been productive in his four games since being named the starter. His schedule the rest of the way is pretty favorable. Five touchdowns against two interceptions is no small thing.
5. Bryce Petty, New York Jets (2 percent owned)
This is a long-shot move, to be certain. But if the Jets decide to commit to Petty going forward, there might be enough there to justify a roster spot. Petty threw a bad interception on the team’s final drive with a chance to steal a win, but overall, he was decent, completing 19 of 32 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. Now he gets two full weeks to prepare for his next game and perhaps the rest of 2016. If you’re desperate, he could be worth a stash.
