The 10th week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close with only the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.
We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via CBS Sports) and news arrives.
Waiver wire tight end rankings, Week 11
1. Hunter Henry, San Diego Chargers (51 percent owned)
We’re going to bend our rules slightly and use a player owned (again, slightly) by more than 50 percent. But it’s worth noting that despite Antonio Gates’ resurgence in San Diego, Henry is healthy again and he scored another touchdown in the loss to the Dolphins. Henry is going to have a role in the offense the rest of the way, especially now that San Diego’s playoff chances are all but wiped out and next season increasingly becomes the focus.
2. C.J. Fiedorowicz, Houston Texans (41 percent owned)
C.J. had one of his quietest games of the season on Sunday, which should serve to keep him on your waiver wires a little longer than he should be. Brock Osweiler is having a miserable season, but one bright spot has been his chemistry with his tight end, who had touchdowns in three of five games before Sunday. He’s still a viable option for owners in need of a spot start.
3. Jesse James, Pittsburgh Steelers (22 percent owned)
Ladarius Green made his return to the Steelers’ lineup on Sunday, but the rookie James was still the more productive tight end against the Cowboys, with four catches on five targets for 59 yards. Green had three catches on four targets for 30 yards. Both are viable options going forward, but James has the advantage of playing with Roethlisberger longer this season and should remain the top tight end target.
4. Vernon Davis, Washington (11 percent owned)
Davis is back and there is no getting around it. Even with Jordan Reed in the lineup at the same time, Davis is getting it done, catching three passes for 66 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. Reed’s return was supposed to end Davis’ nice run in D.C., but it’s not working out that way. Davis appears to be in this for the long haul.
5. Vance McDonald, San Francisco 49ers (5 percent owned)
The guy who has replaced Davis in San Francisco is starting to make noise, catching a season-high four passes on Sunday, after scoring a touchdown the week before. The 49ers offense is tough to trust, but McDonald is starting to assert himself.
