Fantasy football waiver wire: 4 tight ends to target for Week 12

We take a look at the top recommended waiver adds at tight end this week.

We are entering Week 12 of the fantasy football season. The playoffs are just around the corner and this is the time for owners to make a serious push to secure their postseason spot. It’s also Thanksgiving week with six teams playing on Thursday, so be sure to set your lineups early this week.
The bye weeks are just about done, which has to be a relief for owners. No teams are off this week and the only real injury concern is Rob Gronkowski, whose lung injury prevented him from flying out to San Francisco with the team. Gronk should be back this week, but keep a close eye on the practice reports.

Tight end is about the same crapshoot it’s always been this year, so once again these are our best educated guesses if you’re looking for a waiver wire streamer. All players are owned in 50 percent or less of Yahoo! standard leagues.

Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts (35 percent)

Having Dwayne Allen back in the lineup is inevitably going to lead to down weeks for Doyle. He had one such week Sunday, grabbing just one catch for 7 yards against the Tennessee Titans. The good news for Doyle is that the Colts match up with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thanksgiving and that could be one of the highest-scoring games of the week. If he doesn’t find the end zone in this matchup, fantasy owners can cut him loose for good.

C.J. Fiedorowicz, Houston Texans (22 percent)

With Brock Osweiler going into a shell and delivering checkdowns galore, Fiedorowicz has emerged as a viable TE2 in PPR leagues. Over his last six games, he’s averaging 4.5 catches and 49.6 yards per game, scoring two touchdowns in that span. Hardly elite numbers, but that’s a floor 12-team league players can count on at the position. Fiedorowicz has another decent matchup with the San Diego Chargers this week.

Hunter Henry, San Diego Chargers (17 percent)

A knee injury has limited Henry in his last few games, but he should be healthy coming off the Chargers’ bye. Although Antonio Gates is back to being the starting tight end, Henry is still playing a role in the offense and sees red zone targets from Philip Rivers. He’ll be a touchdown-or-bust option against Houston.

Jared Cook, Green Bay Packers (12 percent)

Making his return from an ankle injury, Cook had by far his best game of the season with six catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also had multiple critical drops and lost a fumble, because Jared Cook will never stop being Jared Cook. He’s one of the most underachieving tight ends of the decade and don’t be surprised if Cook immediately goes back into the tank. Only pick him up if you’re getting really desperate for a starter.
