Fantasy football projections, Week 12: Giants-Browns featuring Odell Beckham, Terrelle Pryor, Corey Coleman, more

The Week 12 matchup between the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns features a team on a hot streak facing off against an opponent still looking for its first one of the season. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

The Giants have won five straight games. Unfortunately they didn’t need wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to continue that streak against the Chicago Bears in Week 11. Beckham caught five of seven passes for just 46 yards and was held out of the end zone in the contest. This week he’ll have ample opportunity to redeem himself against a Browns team that may go 0-16. He should do just that. Beckham’s seven targets against the Bears represented his lowest total of season. Expect his number of looks to creep into double digits against Cleveland. He could have a solid fantasy day going for him by halftime. Surpassing his projections in Week 12 is almost a sure bet.

Quarterback Eli Manning may also do the same thing. Only one team has given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than the Cleveland Browns. It’s a nice break for Eli. He’ll be counted on to do most of the work on Sunday seeing as how the Giants don’t have any semblance of a running game thanks to injuries and subpar play this season. He’s not normally on the QB1 radar, but Manning just may surprise some people and be a top-notch performer in Week 12. If Beckham blows by his projections, it would only make sense that the quarterback would do the same.

Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is really the only fantasy option worth looking at in Cleveland’s offense. He caught five of 10 targets for 97 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. Pryor will continue to be targeted at a high volume for the rest of the season as the Browns will be playing from behind a lot. Pryor has done a great job proving that he can play the wide receiver position this year. From a fantasy standpoint, however, it looks like opposing defenses have keyed in on him. Pryor has found the end zone just once in the last five games, with only a two-point conversion to go with that touchdown. He will once again see a steady stream of targets as the go-to guy against the Giants, but reaching his projections has been a boom-or-bust scenario lately.

Maybe if teammate and rookie Corey Coleman finds his game, it will open up some room for both he and Pryor to make an impact on Sunday. Coleman has been held to 41 receiving yards or fewer in each of the three games he has played since his return from injury. Coleman managed just four catches and 39 yards despite receiving 12 targets last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He showed early in the season that he has a lot of talent but Coleman is still a ways away from displaying the kind of fantasy production that would warrant a regular starting role in both standard and PPR formats.
