Fantasy football projections, Week 12: Packers-Eagles featuring Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Carson Wentz, more

The Week 12 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles features a pair of struggling teams looking to right the ship in time to make a playoff run. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

People have been questioning whether or not quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ play is slowly declining throughout the 2016 season. They are doing so with good reason. Mostly because the team is losing football games. Luckily for fantasy owners, his overall box scores are still very impressive. Rodgers has over 350 passing yards in each of the last two games. The volume has certainly been there as the Packers have been playing from behind. Last week he managed three touchdown passes against Washington. While the game against the Eagles most certainly won’t be another blowout loss, Rodgers will continue to be his old self in terms of fantasy statistics. He will be all over his projections in Week 12.

That should help fantasy owners of wide receiver Jordy Nelson. Running backs James Starks and Christine Michael aren’t exactly going to shock the world with their play out of the backfield. Green Bay will certainly be a pass-first team on Monday night. Nelson was held to just three catches for 28 yards against Washington. He saved his fantasy day by scoring a touchdown. He’s now found the end zone in four straight games. Nelson should do it again in Philadelphia.

With Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews both battling injuries, it’s almost guaranteed that the Eagles will have to invoke a pass-happy strategy in order to top the Packers in Week 12. Jordan Matthews owners rejoice. He’s caught an impressive 28 passes over the last four games. Unfortunately it’s only led Matthews to one touchdown catch. At least he’s performing well in PPR leagues. Only two teams have given up more points to fantasy wide receivers than Green Bay. Matthews will certainly surpass his projections in the game even if rookie quarterback Carson Wentz struggles.

Speaking of Wentz struggling. He has thrown just a pair of touchdown passes compared to four interceptions over the last month. Fortunately his numbers against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 were a bit easier to swallow given that both of those touchdown passes came in that loss. Wentz should fare a lot better against the Packers, a team that has been very generous to passing games this season. Fantasy owners wanting to take a chance can go ahead and do so by starting Wentz. He should be able to beat his projections for the first time in a while in Week 12.
