The moment of truth has arrived. Week 16 marks the championship round in fantasy football (unless you’re in one of those weird leagues that plays into Week 17), and if you’re still alive, congratulations. Lineup decisions will be more important than ever with fantasy glory just within your grasp.
Fantasy football waiver wire: Quarterbacks to target for Week 16
Fantasy championships are on the line this week.

The waiver wire doesn’t have as much importance at this time of year compared to the bye weeks, but fantasy owners could still stand to shore up their roster depth. In addition, dynasty/keeper league owners might want to start looking ahead to 2017 and stash potential breakout players for next year. With that in mind, here are the top waiver options at quarterback for Week 16, owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! standard leagues.
Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (29 percent)
Flacco had a tough matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense in windy conditions, but he still managed two touchdowns despite throwing for just 206 yards on 16-of-30 passing. Flacco still doesn’t have a huge fantasy ceiling, but he’ll be worth streaming against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas day. The Ravens’ offense has been slowly coming to life in recent weeks.
Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings (12 percent)
The Vikings got smoked by the Indianapolis Colts, essentially ending their playoff hopes. Still, Bradford got plenty of garbage time stats and finished with 291 yards on 32-of-42 passing. With the running game stuck in a ditch, Bradford’s high volume keeps him in the QB2 discussion. That’s where he’ll be when the Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers’ middling defense next week.
Matt Barkley, Chicago Bears (three percent)
At this rate, Barkley just might play himself into the Bears’ 2017 plans. He struggled with turnovers against the Packers (three interceptions, one lost fumble), but still rallied his team to a near-comeback, racking up 362 yards and two touchdowns in subzero temperatures at Soldier Field. Playing fearless, “devil may care” football, Barkley is a weekly risk for turnover meltdowns, but he’ll be an intriguing streaming play against Washington this week. The Bears are still playing hard and staying competitive in games despite being 3-11.
Tom Savage, Houston Texans (less than one percent)
Bill O’Brien finally pulled the plug on the Brock Osweiler experiment, inserting Savage with the Texans down 13-0 against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Savage proceeded to give the offense a much-needed pulse, rallying the Texans to a comeback win to keep their division title hopes alive. More importantly, he got DeAndre Hopkins involved, something Osweiler failed to do all year. Assuming he keeps the starting job, Savage is worth a bench stash in dynasty leagues. Houston gets the Cincinnati Bengals next.
