Welcome to Week 16 of the Daily Fantasy season. While season-long leagues are down to their championship weeks, leaving the majority of those owners with no games to play, the DFS world keeps chugging right along. This article looks at some of the projected lesser-owned plays at quarterback who could provide huge boosts to your tournament lineups, as well as some trap plays to avoid.
Top daily fantasy football quarterback plays for Week 16
With Week 16 of the NFL season upon us, we take a look at some of the best quarterback values to be found on FanDuel and some players worth fading.

PLAY
Matt Barkley $6,300 (Chicago Bears vs. Washington)
All you can ever ask for is opportunity at a discount price, and right now, Barkley is providing it. In three of his past four games, Barkley has thrown the ball 43, 32 and 54 times, resulting in a pair of 300-yard games and six touchdowns. The wilting Washington defense provides Barkley with another chance to crush value.
Jameis Winston $8,000 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints)
It’s our last chance in 2016 to use the phrase, “The Coors Field of the NFL.” That would be the Superdome and that’s where the Buccaneers look to keep their playoff hopes alive. Winston had one of his worst games of the season against the Saints in Tampa a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully that helps to keep his ownership down in a prime spot to deliver big numbers.
Cam Newton $7,900 (Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons)
How tough has this season been for Cam Newton? On Monday night, Newton had 300 yards passing and two touchdowns in the same game for the first time since Week 5 (the Coors Field of Football!). But that’s the beauty of Daily Fantasy: Every week is a new season and this week Newton can build off Monday’s strong game at home against one of worst pass defenses in the league. Cam is still priced like the second-tier QB he’s been most of the season, which makes him a nice tournament target.
Russell Wilson $7,700 (Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals)
Playing a quarterback against the Cardinals defense is normally a really bad idea. And Wilson certainly struggled the first time these teams met around midseason. But since that overtime tie Wilson has gotten his groove back and the Cardinals’ season has imploded. The Seahawks can still secure a first-round bye, and this time, they get the Cardinals at home. Don’t be afraid to go there. After all, Drew Brees just destroyed the Cardinals defense a week ago on the road.
Robert Griffin III $6,100 (Cleveland Browns vs. San Diego Chargers)
Call me crazy, but I think this is the week the Browns win their first and only game of 2016. And if they do it, it will be because RGIII had a big day against the Chargers, and that is certainly not out of the question. Griffin had 18.6 FanDuel points last week, which would pay off his salary. It’s a gamble, but if Griffin goes off, he could win you a tournament.
NAY
Derek Carr $8,100 (Oakland Raiders vs. Indianapolis Colts)
It might just be one little finger, but it’s had a big impact on Carr’s fantasy production. Since injuring his pinkie three weeks ago, Carr has not been able to take snaps from under center, and it has affecting his quarterbacking, combining for 17 FanDuel points over his past two games. At $8,100, it’s hard to bank on him reversing the trend.
Jared Goff $6,200 (Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers)
It’s going to be tempting to use a cheap quarterback against the 49ers defense, but Goff simply hasn’t proven he’s ready to take advantage of a cake matchup to justify even his minuscule salary. Barkley is a much better option at a savings of $900.
