Pricing has stabilized as trends have emerged but there are still bargains to be found and even some higher-priced options that will go under-owned and can make a difference in your lineups. This article looks at some of the projected lesser-owned plays at quarterback who could provide huge boosts to your tournament lineups, as well as some trap plays to avoid.
Top daily fantasy football quarterback plays for Week 13
With Week 13 of the NFL season upon us, we take a look at some of the best quarterback values to be found on FanDuel and some players worth fading.

Derek Carr $8,100 (Oakland Raiders vs. Buffalo Bills)
If you’ve seen the highlight of Carr’s pinkie finger bending in a very wrong way after that snap against Carolina last week, it might have made you queasy, but don’t be that way about playing him this week. He practiced in full all week and even shed the magic black glove that got him through the Panthers game. He is ready to roll and the Bills will be missing their No. 2 cornerback this week. Carr’s price and concern about his finger will drive his ownership way down, but he is 3-TD, 300-yard capable this week in a big game for the Raiders.
Colin Kaepernick $7,800 (San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears)
There’s no denying it: Kaepernick is getting it done on the field. His price has largely caught up to him, but he is still in a prime spot to deliver this week against an injury-ravaged Bears team. He is running like his Super Bowl year self and the passing stats are coming along as well. This is one of those spots where both teams are so bad, it’s unlikely one will blow out the other, and that’s exactly the game flow you want for a matchup like this.
Russell Wilson $7,700 (Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers)
This seemed like an NFC showdown game when the season started, but the Panthers – like so many Super Bowl runners-up before them – have hit the wall this season. Now the injuries are starting to pile up on defense, leaving them vulnerable to a dual-option quarterback who has made a career of late-season flourishes. Wilson’s ownership will be probably be down after last week’s clunker and the Panthers’ defense reputation. Neither are what they seem, making Wilson a solid tournament option.
Kirk Cousins $7,500 (Washington at Arizona Cardinals)
Cousins is back to being the gunslinger we all expected at the start of the season, but he is not being priced that way on FanDuel. Perhaps this week it’s because Washington is facing the Arizona defense, but it appears Tyrann Mathieu is not going to play, which should open up the middle of the field for the likes of Jamison Crowder and Vernon Davis, who has really come up big as Jordan Reed’s backup. This is another spot where the narrative will keep people away, but the truth is something different and Cousins is just as likely to go off as any quarterback on the slate.
Alex Smith $7,000 (Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons)
You’re really breaking glass in case of emergency if you’re trotting out Smith, but this is one of those weeks where he can’t be ignored. The Falcons are dead last in pass defense and Smith has been putting up decent numbers in recent weeks, as Tyreek Hill has emerged as a dynamic threat in the passing game. If the Chiefs are playing from behind, Smith is going to be throwing it, and no one will be on him, making him a sneaky tournament play,

Aaron Rodgers $8,500 (Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans)
I do not like to bet against Rodgers, but considering the uncertainty surrounding his hamstring injury and the fact that the Texans sport a top-5 defense against the pass, I can’t get behind using $8,500 in salary for this spot. Rodgers will probably prove me wrong and light up a big game on Sunday, but it just doesn’t seem like a smart play this week. He will certainly be lower-owned than usual, so as a contrarian play, he might be worth a dart throw.
Paxton Lynch $6,000 (Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars)
With Trevor Siemian ruled out with a foot injury, we get to take advantage of a starter in a good spot priced near the site minimum. That said, Lynch didn’t really show a whole lot in his two previous appearances, including a 13.7-point start against Atlanta, which was ranked 27th against the pass. For all the Jaguars’ problems in 2016, they do a pretty solid job against the pass. This is one time where the savings in salary might not help you.
